Weaving technology leaders all set for ITM 2022
The world’s leading weaving machine makers are gearing up to unveil the machines they’ve been working on for the past three years at ITM 2022, which will take place from June 14 to June 18, 2022.
On 14-18 June 2022, Istanbul Tuyap Fair and Congress Centre will host the International Textile Machinery Exhibition ITM 2022, one of the most important events that bring together the world’s textile technology leaders. Weaving Technologies manufacturing businesses, like all other participants, are prepared to launch their latest machinery at ITM 2022, the first international textile machines exhibition to be held after a 3-year hiatus.
Turkey textile machinery industry
Turkey is one of the top five textile export champions in the world. In 2021, the industry exported $12.9 billion, up 33.2 percent from the previous year. Turkey has set a new record with this volume, reaching the highest point in its history. This rise is expected to be exceeded in 2022, with a projected volume of $15 billion. Although this may appear far-fetched at first look, it is not when considering the Turkish textile market’s potential.
Turkey’s thriving textile industry sparked the growth of the textile machinery and equipment industry. Almost all textile machinery and equipment were imported until 1980. However, beginning in 1980, some small and medium-sized low-tech gear was produced locally. At the moment, the enterprises’ product lines range from highly automated equipment to basic models, and local manufacturers can compete with foreign companies in most machinery categories, such as atmospheric jet dyeing (overflow) or blow dyeing gear. In Turkey, the majority of textile machinery and equipment producers are small to medium-sized businesses based in Istanbul and Izmir.

Therefor they are returning to other textile producing countries such as Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and of course also Turkey. Especially the geographical proximity of Turkey to Europe is a big advantage. In this perspective we forsee a substantial growth for the Turkish textile industry in the coming years.
