Synergistic strategies for enhancing textile value chain

Institute of Chemical Technology-Mumbai, in association with The Textile Association (India), Mumbai Unit organised a one-day conference.

Department of Fibres and Textile Processing Technology, Institute of Chemical Technology-Mumbai, in association with The Textile Association (India), Mumbai Unit organised a one-day conference on “Synergistic strategies for enhancing Textile value chain” on May 12, 2023 at the K V Auditorium, ICT-Mumbai. Roop Rashi Mahapatra, Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles- Govt of India, was the Chief Guest for the conference.

Prof Ravindra D Kale, HoD of the dept welcomed the participants and gave a welcome address.  V C Gupte, Chairman, The Textile Association (India), Mumbai Unit briefed the audience about the need of the event and different activities undertaken by The Textile Association (India), Mumbai Unit for the larger good of the Indian Textile Industry.

Prof A B Pandit, Vice Chancellor, ICT, set the tone of the conference by stressing the need for synergy in the Textile Processing field. The conference featured speakers from various textile sectors covering a wide range of topics related to the entire textile value chain. It was indeed glad to witness such a huge audience of about 120 attendees consisting of professionals, academicians, and industry stakeholders from various textile industries. Speakers were namely  Laxmish Prabhu (BASF India), Anjani Prasad (Archroma India), Somes Bhaumik (TRADC, Grasim), Arindam Dasgupta (Hearth Textiles), Tirthankar Mukherjee (Welspun India), Kinshuk Dasgupta (BARC) and Gaurav Agarwal (Grasim Industries). Along with their beneficial talk, the conference had a very interesting panel session led by Umasankar Mahapatra (Pulcra Chemicals India) with a team of very experienced and diversified industry people as well as an academician namely Dr Dileep Wakankar (ChemAssist Knowledge Partners LLP).  Gurudas Aras (Unitop Chemicals), Manoj Jhaver (DuPont), Sandeepan Majhi (Pantaloons) and Prof Ashok R Athalye (ICT-Mumbai).

Dr Saptarshi Maiti, Assistant Professor of the Textile Dept, ICT and coordinator proposed the vote of thanks and acknowledged the sponsors of the event, Azelis India, CHT (India) and Archroma India.
