Pushing the boundaries of productivity in ring spinning requires the ability to achieve higher spindle speeds while maintaining consistent yarn quality and machine stability.

LS Mills, Theni has successfully installed and commissioned 14400 spindles, LMW LRJ 9 Ring Frames in the past year. LMW worked very closely with the technical team of LS mills, implemented all the improvements suggested and achieved an impressive spindle speed of 30,000 RPM.

The achievement not only reflects the technical capabilities of the LRJ9 platform but also highlights the strength of the long-standing partnership between LMW and LS Mills, a collaboration that has continuously driven productivity improvements in the mill for over four decades.

Configured with a 65 mm gauge resulting in 8% less space, the machine has delivered higher productivity along with consistent yarn quality, underscoring the importance of advanced machine engineering and high-precision technological components.

S Manivannan, Chairman & Managing Director, L S Mills, Theni
“The LRJ 9 ring frame from LMW has delivered excellent performance in our mill. Achieving a technological spindle speed of 30,000 RPM with consistent yarn quality is a remarkable milestone. This reflects LMW’s strong engineering capability and commitment to the spinning industry and our LS team’s capability to achieve benchmark standards.”

Mill’s profile and technology partnership

With an installed capacity 1.5 lakh spindles, LS Mills produces premium combed compact yarn from counts ranging from Ne 40s to 180s, specialising in Egyptian, Indian, Organic, BCI and Supima cotton and spins other fibres such as Tencel, Refibra, Tencel cotton & linen and other blends producing approximately 30 Tons of yarn/day.

Operating on the farm to fashion principle, the vertically integrated spinning, weaving, processing and made-ups facility of LS Mills specialises in value addition, and their innovation has created a distinct identity as a quality manufacturer of made ups. The stitching unit produces world-class bed linen from 200 to 1500 thread counts and caters to the world market such as North America and Europe being the major regions and to Spain, Turkey, Japan, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Bahrain apart from other countries.

LS Mills management believes in giving back to mother earth and the society at large through all means. All the energy needs of the operations are met through sustainable energy and in fact supplies the additional green energy generated to other companies as well. LS mills corporate office has been designed and built based on green platform and has won the Leeds certificate. Various CSR activities done by LS mills benefits a lot of the employees and more than it the society around.

LS Mills continues to remain competitive in quality and productivity by adopting the latest technology from LMW. The mill has been continually partnering with LMW in the development and refinement of new products, consistently providing valuable operational support and constructive feedback for improvements. With each new generation of machinery, LS Mills has reaffirmed its confidence in LMW’s engineering excellence, while LMW has delivered machines that consistently meet and exceed expectations. The installation of the LRJ9 Ring Frame marks yet another significant milestone in this long-standing and collaborative partnership.

The LRJ9 Ring Frame with 65mm gauge – A Technological Milestone

Designed to support high spindle speeds while maintaining yarn quality and operational stability, the LRJ9 is engineered with rugged structures, precision technological elements combined with advanced design features. The key highlights of the LRJ 9 Ring frame include,

  • 65 mm gauge configuration for high performance
  • Smart spinning geometry enabling better twist flow and increased spindle speeds with lesser end breaks upto 30,000 rpm
  • Rugged design of spindle rail ensures higher speeds with less vibration
  • Up to 10% higher productivity & Up to 8% space savings
  • Up to 10% power savings with HLED spindles + HK RYC along with lower vibration and sound.
  • Rugged design of Head stock, drafting drive with dual drive ensures torsion free drafting load and production of slub yarns.
  • Auto doffer: Peg movement – 4 pegs / stroke
  • Savings in OPEX – Building cost, Humidification and Lightening & Operator fatigue.
  • Least cost per kilogram of yarn produced

The Benchmark Performance – Setting New Standards

“The performance of the LRJ9 machine has been extremely impressive. The stability of the machine at high spindle speeds and the consistent yarn quality is quite excellent. The contribution of key technological components such as rings, spindles, and other critical systems has played a major role in achieving this benchmark performance.”
Mr M Anand, Vice President, LS Mills

S Manivannan, CMD adds, “Our partnership with LMW spans more than four decades, during which we have adopted multiple generations of spinning machinery from LMW. This long-term collaboration has enabled LS Mills to remain technologically competitive while benefiting from continuous product development from LMW”.

The installation at LS Mills stands as a strong example of how advanced spinning technology can help mills achieve higher productivity, consistent yarn quality, and improved operational performance. With its continuous focus on innovation and engineering excellence, LMW continues to support spinning mills worldwide in achieving higher efficiency and competitiveness in the evolving textile industry.
