Siemens Ltd recently inaugurated its state-of-the-art Advanced Motor Test Centre at Kalwa Works, off Mumbai. One of the most advanced test centres of its kind globally, the fully automated test centre houses 8 test benches capable of testing motors in the wide range of 120 W to 3000 kW.

The Indian electrical equipment industry has witnessed a host of changes in recent years including adoption of new standards for efficiency for industrial motors. This also has given rise to new testing methods for efficiency calculation as well.
