Double-digit profitability in Oerlikon's MMF segment
The Manmade Fibres Segment of Oerlikon captured a significant share of the business in the filament equipment market, where a high level of demand prevailed, particularly in China.
“We are pleased to announce another quarter of profitable growth”, said Dr Roland Fischer, CEO of Oerlikon Group. “Our positive performance confirms that our strategy addresses attractive markets, our initiatives and activities are delivering positive results, and we are able to take advantage of the growth momentum and opportunities in our end markets. Consequently, we are in a position to increase our full-year expectations for the second time this year.”
Sweden keen on tie-up with Aditya Birla Group on smart textiles
Sven-Erik Bucht Minister for Rural Affairs from the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation Sweden arrived in Mumbai to discuss a joint project on smart textiles involving potentially Aditya Birla Group, Swedish company Domsjö and the two governments as well as the European Union.
The minister visited the Aditya Birla Group Textile Research Application Development Centre at Kharach in Gujarat, which is India’s pioneer in viscose staple fibre (VSF), a man-made, bio-degradable fibre with characteristics akin to cotton. The prime aim of this visit is to boost development on smart textiles from using VSF, cellulosic fibre and pulp as an alternative to cotton and hence the Aditya Birla group is a natural fit with its easily blendable cellulosic fibre.
A big success for European machinery roadshow in Colombia
The first European roadshow of 14 textile machinery manufacturers took place on October 18 in Bogota and the following day in Medellin. With over 100 Colombian textile producers attending, it exceeded the expectations of the organisers, the Belgian (SYMATEX), French (UCMTF), Spanish (AMTEX) and Swedish (TMAS) textile machinery associations.
TMAS office in Vietnam
TMAS, Textile Machinery Association of Sweden, has established a local office in the 7th district of Ho Chi Minh City. Heading the office is Tran Phuoc Thanh, Business Development Representative for TMAS in Vietnam.
