U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol joins the Cotton 2040’s platform
The U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol has been invited to join Cotton 2040. Convened by sustainability non-profit Forum for the Future, the Cotton 2040 coalition is a unique partnership that brings together representatives from standards, producers, brands and retailers, and existing industry initiatives specifically to build on and accelerate collective action to scale up and overcome barriers to sustainable cotton uptake across multiple standards.
CmiA brings 50 mn textiles to the market in 2016
The Cotton made in Africa (CmiA), the largest label for sustainable cotton from Africa, brought around 50 million CmiA textiles to the market in 2016, increasing its license revenues by 47 per cent in comparison to 2015. It certified 30 per cent of cotton production in sub-Saharan Africa.
Hakro to buy CmiA-certified cotton
Germany-based Hakro GmbH has signed a partnership agreement with the Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) to buy its certified cotton. Having recently launched a collection in organic cotton, the medium-sized enterprise has pledged commitment to CmiA.
