1st ITMA Sustainable Innovation Award goes to Levi
Levi Strauss & Co. of USA, known worldwide for its authentic vintage look jeans, is the winner of the first ITMA Sustainable Innovation Award. It clinched the ITMA Industry Excellence Award category from two other finalists: Berto Industria Tessile (Italy) and Gebrüder Otto (Germany).
Record numbers for Italy’s ITMA
ITMA 2015, held in Milan from November 12-19 at the Fiera Milano trade fair grounds, closed its doors with some significant statistics. For the eight days of the event, the halls which hosted the 1,700 exhibitors recorded almost 1,23,000 participants, hailing from 147 countries (22 per cent more than the previous edition in Barcelona).
Sustainability agenda drives attendance at ITMA 2015
The global textile and garment manufacturing industry converged at ITMA 2015 in Milan to source innovative solutions to enhance their business sustainability. Europe still dominates in textile technology, but India is no laggard. It has created its own niche. With 158 exhibitors at the present ITMA 2015, Indian textile machinery and spares industry has come a long way to spread its wings since 1975 when at the same Milan, India fielded a lone exhibitor. Innovations galore from 1,500+ exhibitors
ITMA 2015 will be held at the Fiera Milano Rho from 12 to 19 November 2015, which will showcase end-to-end solutions for the entire textile and garment making chain. The exhibition has a gross size of over 2,00,000 sq m and over 1,500 exhibitors from 47 economies promise to launch innovations galore.
Industry response very enthusiastic: Beauduin
Charles Beauduin is the President of CEMATEX, the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers. He is CEO and owner of Michel Van de Wiele NV, an international technology player and leader in solutions for the textile industry. He holds a Master in Law from the KU Leuven and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has a broad international management experience with professional experiences in Asia and the US.
10% of French textile machinery goes to India
Thirty companies, often world leaders on their specific markets belong to the French textile machinery manufacturers´ association, well known as UCMTF. Their total annual consolidated turnover of 1 billion Euros makes France the sixth textile machinery exporter.
