Andhra textile industry badly affected by COVID-19
Several textile, cloth and readymade traders in the state are in distress due to a fall in sales and income. Vijayawada, Guntur, Vizag, Kakinada, Kurnool, and Rajamahendravaram are the main areas that got affected.
Surat textile traders’ lockdown relaxation plea denied

CAI pegs 2019-20 cotton estimate at 354.50 lakh bales
The total cotton supply estimated by the CAI during the months of October 2019 to July 2020 is 392.40 lakh bales of 170 kg each which consists of the arrival of 345.40 lakh bales upto July 31, 2020, imports of 15 lakh bales upto July 31, 2020 and the opening stock estimated by the CAI at 32 lakh bales at the beginning of the season on October 1, 2019.
CCI to boost cotton exports to Bangladesh, Vietnam
The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), which is holding surplus stocks of cotton just ahead of the next harvest season, is trying to boost exports of the fibre crop. A memorandum of understanding is being worked out to export 1.5-2 million bales (of 170 kilograms each) of cotton to Bangladesh while the state-run CCI will also set up its own warehouse in Vietnam to boost cotton exports.
