RIL’s polyester output continues to climb

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) produced almost 1.17 million tons of polyester (PFY, PSF, PET) in the nine months to Dec 31, 2007, an increase of 5% on the same point a year ago. Speciality products accounted for 54% and 39% of PSF and PFY production respectively.

Record Drop in US Mills Output

US textile mill output fell sharply by 12.1% last year (2007). The drop in output was the largest since the US government began publishing production data on the topic in 1972. New figures from the US Federal Reserve reveal that US textile mill (yarn and fabric makers) has plunged by almost 45% from its peak in December 1997.
